Martin Papworth Dove Hunting | Record-Breaking 5,080

The last shooting record at El Cortijo was taken place on 04/12/2011 by hunter Shawn Russell from Canada, with a total of 4,751 doves in just one day. On 23/02/2014, after more than two years, Mr. Martin Papworth from the UK, broke that record by shooting 5,080 doves in one day, with 6,250 shots and an average of 82% effectiveness, making this a new challenge for only those fellow hunters who dare to try.

He began hunting at 8:00 am in the morning and kept on going until 12: 30 am. Stopped for a quick lunch and went off to the fields again from 1:30 pm until 4:00 pm. This means that Mr. Papworth spent a total of 6 hours and 1/2 hunting.

It was amazing to watch this incredible hunter shoot almost 1,000 shells per hour. UNBELIEVABLE!
It really leaves you mouth opened just to watch such a fabulous shooter for those of us who know and understand the technique. His impeccable swing, timing and position, along with his positivity and enthusiasm just makes this sport so much more worth enjoying. His shoulder at the end was in perfect shape, and it didn’t even seem tired.

He was assisted by 3 bird boys: Hector, Ezequiel and Juan, and had 3 shotguns (Beretta Urika 391, 20 gauge) loaded at all times. It’s very important to bear in mind that he could have hunted at least 3,000 more doves due to his average shooting and the amount of daylight.

It’s to my knowledge that the English hunters are excellent shooters and the dove hunting may be one of the greatest traditions throughout the generations of hunters.

Congratulations once again to Mr. Martin Papworth for the stunning hunting exhibition.
